Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hardcourt
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden title for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The athlete, a former number one, has experienced a torrid season, achieving just a single victory at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.
The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-time trainer his previous coach.
Currently training with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.
It is Medvedev's first trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court from March of the previous year.
Victory also signifies the Russian has secured 21 victories at 21 various tournaments.
"For the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is really nice," commented world number 14 the champion.
"This title is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his last six championship matches, comprising in that event earlier this year.
His counter-punching play style and regular outbursts on the tennis court had led observers to wonder if his capacity to compete at the top level was over.
However the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and compete aggressively, reinforced by an improved serving game.
Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Moutet, winning 4 of the final five points to gain the advantage.
The competitors swapped service breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his first ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to push for a third set.
The opponent rescued four early opportunities in a competitive deciding set before the champion secured a break to that score to close out the victory.
Suitably, he earned victory with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to handle a return after a lengthy match.
