Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers increasing in power within the urban setting.
Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of characters who will split off from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.
Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear out of place, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a intense opening clash with the antagonists.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose death started the story’s plot—used the enemy for his own means, invading the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.
Casimir then cleared his liabilities and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each character has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their position as key figures in the influential clan could help the group enter places they usually can’t.
- Additionally, Teor swore a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- Teor is marked for death by the family.
This means them few options but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Explorers and Strategists groups.
Fans can expect discovering which adventurers will be in which group in the season’s final introductory chapter, released on the upcoming Thursday.
